One thing I'd really like in the Asylum, if I could select my own time zone so I could see all the time stamps according to my time and not whatever time the default is. It's kind of confusing guessing the time...

Well two problems: a) The grail would have to identify you all the time. Right now it doesn't know who you are unless you login - and I'd like to keep it that way.
b) We couldn't sensibly talk about post times any more ;-)

Well why not add a setting in the Profile of the user where they can select the TimeZone they are in then when they login all the times automatically change to that specific Timezone??

Hmm... what would the point of this be? I mean, I can understand that this might be mildly convenient, but does it really matter that much? Personally, I only usually pay attention to the relative time differences (e.g., how much time elapsed between posts, etc.). I can't imagine why I would need to know when someone posted according to my time zone.

Just my two cents. Or won, if you will.

Here's an idea - one of our coding asylumites might be able to create a firefox plugin that can 'translate' any highlighted Ozone timestamp into local time (with preset values according to your timezone).

It'd be delightfully pointless!

Well it was a thought... a stupid one but a thought none the less! Besides i posted it in the morning around 6:30 I think... I mostly think from the back of my head mostly then...

Well, personally I like it all being on the same time for everyone. Gives us all a common frame of reference when we're talking about post times (a subject which does come up on occassion).

This could be done with a Javascript hack from the system date without needing to have someone login.
