A friend of mine recently bought a tablet, a Trust Wireless Scroll Tablet 1200-V2. After some trials and testing he found out that the pen seemed to be inaccurate, so he found himself a ruler and proceeded to draw some lines on the tablet:

http://home.planet.nl/~leoniddo/trust.jpg

As you can see, the horizontal and vertical lines are accurate, but the diagonals don't work, propably because the Y-coordinates aren't calculated correctly.

Does anyone else have similiar experiences with tablets, or tips on fixing it? I gave my ancient Wacom a testdrive, but that one worked like a charm. He plans to return his Trust and getting a wacom instead. So, in case you want to get yourself a tablet and are tempted to take the cheaper route: be warned.

(edit: naturally, the problem occurs, as far as I know, only with this tablet, but I thought a warning would be in place just in case)

I'm the 'proud' owner of this tablet and I have contacted the helpdesk regarding the problem, this is their reply (translated from dutch)

Dear Sir

This problem occurs because your tablet is semi professinal, it is a hardware problem that is inherent to the quality of this tablet, if you want to create these types of lines we recommend that you buy a professional tablet of another brand.

With kind regards,
Dirk Dorst
Trust International Service Centre

I really don't know what to think of this answer, but one thing is sure: I'm buying a Wacom!

I find it really strange that they call their products 'semi professional' while to the public they leave another impression;
The name of the Trust Subbrand for tablets is: XpertDesign
The tablet's box says: The right choice for any computer designer

Well, mahjqa you can leave the title of this topic just the way it is! Trust themselves have confessed that we can expect this problem with any of their tablets.

So, basically what they're saying to you is "Our hardware is faulty; a piece of crap intended for the amateur market who don't care a jot about accuracy. We would suggest that, should you care about such things, you go with someone other than us becuase we're too damn lazy to diagnose the source of the problem and get it fixed. We obviously don't want sales and we don't care about our industry reputation. Please do not expect to see us on the market in a few years."

zipper: And does the store exchanged the tablet with no fuss ?
Btw, clever little test. I think I'd have forgotten to draw some diagonals after seeing the horizontals and verticals are ok.

That is going to be my next project.
I will tell them that i thaught to have purchased a professional product, which this isn't, obviously.
And maybe show them the helpdesk's email to explain that I don't want to give another Trust a try.

Plainly, they have admitted that their merchandise is sub-standard and advised that you do not buy their brand in future. I think that everybody should accept this and no longer buy Trust products.

I have a high-resolution USB2 webcam made by Trust that has never quite worked properly. Unfortunately, the responses I received from their customer support were not even entirely in English, so I was unable to ascertain the meaning altogether.

From personal experience, from what I have been told, and from what I have read here, Trust cannot be trusted.

Be sure to spread the word.

actually, sending it in Navajo would have to be done on purpose, and that would actually be a sign of good customer support (albeit to the wrong person...hehe).

Maybe it was in Swahili?

Finally got rid of the Trust tablet today.
The store didn't have any problems with the fact that I wanted my money back. I just showed them the image I made and told them that Turust's helpdesk told me that every tablet has this inaccuracy.
Even though I was too late (16 days instead of 8 after purchasing date) they gave me my money.

Now I?m looking for a Wacom, but for the same money the tablet will be much smaller (A6) .
The Graphire is ok, I think, but I like the Intuos 3 a lot, as you can imagine.

Oh man, I can't believe a real company would say that. How could such a faulty product be of any use to anyone?

Hehe...

"We want your money! No, our products don't work well...they are actually pretty shoddy, and...well...crap, really. But still, we want your money!"

Say it enough times, and people will start to believe it..wait...that is Mr. Bush's method!

My name is derived from the old Gaelic version of my real name - White Hawk / Battle Hawk / Hawk of May - Gwalchmai, Gawaine, Gavaine, Gavin. It has nowt to do with Navajo naming practices.

Actually, I think the emails I received were partially in italian or spanish - not sure which - and simply suggested that I should try all the things I explained that I had already tried in the first email I sent to them. In short, it (and each following response) was useless.

I thought that it might be a comment in reference to my name. My real name is a late medieval version of the Welsh name, Gawain. Gawain is most likely derived from Gwalchgwyn or Gwalchmai (meaning, respectively, 'White Hawk' and 'Hawk of May'). It is therefore unlikely to be linked in any way to the naming conventions of the Navajo.

Perhaps I got it bass ackward.

Mahjqa, I am glad that you got it sorted, btw. It seems that we are living in an age when we are increasingly expected (obliged?) to pay for shoddy service and low quality products. I never used to be the sort of person to complain about things, but over the past couple of years I have witnessed some the most awful attitudes from people whose sole task is to separate you from your money! I've begun to develop a repulsive knack for the art of complaint nowadays.

Actually, it was Zipper (2nd post) that got into this mess. I'm just a messenger. Since many people on this forum are tempted to buy a tablet at some point, I thought this would be some useful info.
