Google Earth is roughly the 3D version of Google Maps.

Impressive program, fun to play with.

Very cool indeed,

www.terraexplorer.com is very similar and has higer resolutions, sometimes.
But the google images are more recent, you can clearly see our new white tiles in the backyard

ack. they took out the download....

It's not as good as NASA Worldview, which has MUCH higher resolutions. It's got a much nicer interface though. The downside is the satellite images around my home are so terrible I can't even see my block.

really? i just used both programs and i would say it's about the same if not the other way round.

i especially compared the Los Angeles area, cause i'm going there soon.
for example at the airport, with google you can make out single planes easily but with nasa you can view them only in the usgs pictures.

On wordview, they fuzz out the US Congess building... Or was this just me?

yepp it is blurred out! both with nasa and google.

Hmm, I couldn't find the Foxtrot comic strip from a couple months ago that mentioned Congress being blurred out, but I did fin this one:

that's pretty funny

After I posted that, I read on CNN that President Bush was evacuated I hope they dont come looking for me

Why would they blur out congress, but not the whitehouse OR the pentagon???

CIA Headquarters in Langley isn't blurred either, odd...

It's not technically blurred out it's just a side effect of all the hot air coming out of congress.
