[b]Video Overlay workaround:[/b] [small]The Bad News:[/small] As pointed-out by poi, video overlay (a hardware-supported video performance acceleration feature) hinders frame-grabbing from your desktop environment. Pressing "Print Screen" while watching a film will send a perfect copy of the screen to the clipboard, minus the video frame! A blank rectangle, usually black, is all that has been copied. [small]The good news:[/small] You can disable video overlay! Disabling the overlay function will lower performance (depending upon your overall hardware configuration, this reduction may be considerable) but would serve as a simple temporary workaround just for this purpose. [small]One method:[/small] [ulist]Open your display settings (either 'Control Panel' > 'Display Settings', or right-click desktop and select 'Properties'). Select the 'Settings' tab. Click 'Advanced - a new dialogue opens. Select the 'Troubleshooting' tab. Drag the slider to the left - possibly to the first or second notch (I forget which). Click 'Apply'. [/ulist] Now, though video performance is lower, you should be able to capture something a little more interesting than a blank rectangle. Just run through to the frame you want to grab, pause, press 'Print Screen' on your keyboard, and paste into the art package of your choice. Once done, simply return the slider to the far right and hit 'OK' for normal operation. [small](Edited by [internallink=21770]White Hawk[/internallink] on 06-29-2005 22:30)[/small]
