Okay, I've had this site runnin almost a year and finally i've got a logo and the sitelayout and everything is almost perfect... or at least to my liking...

Now i'd like some more ideas on how to enhance it...

I dunno... any comment is good...

I'd like it more with no splash/popup and just dir listings for /newfunny and /picture_library

good content with the funny pics but the presentation is painful

See I told you you'd get comments from here... ok you will eventually get something!

Ok, I'm looking at your splash page and I see this straight up; "Click Image To Enter"; like WOW now I would have never figured that out! Sheer genious that! A normal human being would never understand why his cursor had changed into a hand when it hovered over the image if you hadn't written that! Comon anyone who surfs the net knows that a link can either be a string/block of text or an image I mean isn't that the most fundamental thing about the internet! I noticed that text after I'd clicked the image! Major wierdo notion there!

Besides that I utterly hate spalsh pages, even though I used to make them in the past they seem just plain stupid to me now! I mean, why? Ok so you have a Flash version and an HTML version of your site then a splash page seems appropriate otherwise what's the use?

Next, the color coding still freaks me out. I'm looking at the top links and I'm thinking to hover or not to hover! The top link has a hover effect while no other link does... well? Also the various color makes it difficult to read the content, use different colors where you want to drag attention and not just for fun, it gets disturbing.

Your layout is... ummm... is this the right floor?!? Okay... grunge I like grunge big fan but... ummm... you could have added some more feeling to it like some more color in the layout, this is a site that has funny pictures and I'm looking at Gothic Art Blood Sucker style! You haven't gone with the flow or you meant for this to happen? If you did then no comment...

You're viewport is small... I feel like I'm surfing the net with my k508i! You've used tables oh wow increase the images! Tables are bulky use them only when needed like for tabular data picked up from databases! LONG LIVE CSS!! It's time to enter the new world dude, time for CSS! Check out my own site (www.haiderali.5gigs.com) or infact any site made in CSS and note the download time and the images used, see the external CSS file if you want (www.haiderali.5gigs.com/style/alias.css) note the number of background images I've used and try and compare to the number of images used only in your layout... see the difference?

The biggest problem I find in your site is it's very large in size! I have dialup and Opera shows me 25 min past and 75 out of 92 images downloaded! 92 freakin' images and that too at full resolution! You know when you shrink the size of an image using the width and height attributes of the img tag all that happens is the virtual size of the image is constricted while the physical size is untouched. You've got a small viewport for the main data and in that viewport you've added so many images all at full resolution! You should makes thumbnails they are smaller in size and easier to download. Alright so you might be having a DSL or T1 connection but that doesn't mean the one seeing you site does.

90% of your layout has not been used, intentionally or wait a minute there was a hugely obesse bouncing guy there! You've got a box on the side that doesn't have anything in it... why?

Oh well I'm tired of this review been online for like an hour right now and this is what Opera has to say:

Document: 100% - Images 91/92 - Total: 5.4 MB - Speed: 2.6 KB/s - Time: 55:43

And the status is still going on!

Okay,

Guess, i've somehow listened to your advice... Thanks alot...

So I finally got around to using a system that could handle my posting of MAXIMUM content... (it's updated almost 2 times a day now) so I got rid of the old design...

Anyone feel like checking out the new site?

And yes I still have a splash page, but I also need it because I have pretty much "subsites" that I want people to be aware of....

Why can't that be communicated with a menu, which it looks like you already have? Aren't these "subsites" just areas of the same site?

By the way, I'm not sure what makes the blog differ from the diary. Also, your splash page says your photography area (which is misspelled "Photograhpy") is not available, but I can get to it from the navigation menu just fine.

But to say something positive, I like the general look of the site.
