The gain on GIF is tiny. Generally I just remove the animation settings that are useless. The PNG compression algorithm in PhotoShop is far from optimal. I've seen some 8bits PNG being compressed at 75% with PNGCRUSH. For 32bits PNG it's usually 10-25%.
