Topic awaiting preservation: Javascript on the PSP (PlayStation Portable)

I figured I'd mention this here as a side-note of interest, since mobile devices are becoming increasingly popular etc.

Sony's "PSP" (PlayStation Portable) has a built-in Web Browser as of firmware version 2.00 (available in Japan at time of writing, US as of August 12/05.) I believe it supports HTML 4 and what appears to be Javascript 1.0. A basic recursive animation test I wrote worked on mine, surprisingly enough, without modification - and kids on the various PSP-related forums have been finding that Arkanoid remakes and other scripts from places like dynamicdrive.com seem to work.

alert() calls work as well, and are presented in unique PSP style with an "OK" button. pspjs.com has a few demoable things (obviously designed for viewing on a PSP, given the look of the site.)

I'd like to try doing a simple remake of "Arkanoid" etc. for the PSP, but I'd imagine someone else has already done so.

Given the performances of the PSP, this sounds very interesting indeed, looking forward to playing your js Arkanoid on mine.

Arkanoid could be a challenge, but I might give it a shot. (Something
currently breaks, not sure what.)

I haven't seen any of either, unfortunately. The implementation of JS on the PSP appears to be fairly rudimentary, but again I'm not even sure what version is supported. (1.0, perhaps 1.1?)

With some digging you may be able to find the company who developed the browser (I don't believe Sony did it in-house), and get the specs on it. I'd be interested if Sony had some sort of developer site/documentation for this, but I would imagine the browser is a small side-show compared to the actual PSP application developer market.
