Topic awaiting preservation: Wireless Router Through Floors

Hey all,

So my mom had a broadband connection in her kitchen and want's to share it with the office upstairs. (One floor up pretty much right over the kitchen.

I've loved my Linksys WRTG54 wireless router and I'm hoping to go this route for her to prevent running cables. i'm just worried about wireless up through floors. I'm pretty sure it will work but if anyone has had success like this, some confirmation would be nice.

I'd test it myself but my laptop got stolen so I don't have a comp to test it with.

My Linksys is upstairs and I have connectivity all over the condo.

I have a lynksys wrt54g upstairs and I get excellent connection everywhere (main floor, downstairs, upstairs, outside).

yup, I saw a church running a wlan with the linksys router in the attic with tons of crap stored all around it and a stairway full of wood to pile through for one workstation (thaat one may have been cabled).

In my house, the router is on the second floor and I'm typing this from the basement. No issues at all.

It can help things if you get a high-transmission rate aerial too, something between 8 and 12dB is good... although I saw one going on eBay that's rated at 13.2dB

Yeah, I have a Linksys WRTG54 and the signal strength is great, although you may run into trouble if you have a concrete floor/ceiling.
