I have a lynksys wrt54g upstairs and I get excellent connection everywhere (main floor, downstairs, upstairs, outside). |

In my house, the router is on the second floor and I'm typing this from the basement. No issues at all. |

It can help things if you get a high-transmission rate aerial too, something between 8 and 12dB is good... although I saw one going on eBay that's rated at 13.2dB |

Yeah, I have a Linksys WRTG54 and the signal strength is great, although you may run into trouble if you have a concrete floor/ceiling. |
