Hey, was wondering what consequences there would be if I raised the length of the session for a forum. Since the sessions are stored in the database, there may be a chance that the database is filled and get the error that I've seen "SQL Error : 1114 The table phpbb_sessions is full"

Right not the session is set for one hour. I think that is plenty but some of the people are complaining that it times out before they finish the post. Not sure what the hell takes more than an hour to post but...

Anyway, should I just tell them to type faster?

If it takes that long for them to compose a post, maybe they should consider doing it in Wordpad, or an editor, first.

That is what I do.

I'm assuming that it is not taking an hour to actually type the post...but rather after browsing the forum, and dealing with the little things that life gives while tyring to sit and read, then making to a point where they are going to type a post...

I have, in the past, spent up to 45 minutes composing relatively short pieces of text for various forms on the web. I don't know if it's ever happened to me in a forum, but it's happened in other places.

In any case, as long as you give them back the text they typed along with the error, it shouldn't be a problem. If they have the text in front of them, they can copy/paste it and try again, and they won't feel like they wasted their time typing it out.

well...what are the implications of setting the time out higher. I mean...I don't really want to but I need to give them a good reason *why*.

thanks for the input thus far
