Heya,

maybe one of you has some good resources in this area:

I'm looking for 'decent' world and contintent maps, with nations outlined (at least the more 'prominent' ones for the western hemisphere),
preferably vectory, if not, at least easily colorable (ie. no hights, no 'shading', etc).
Preferably free, but I might have a little budget
(I want to place little 'we have a partner here' dots on the maps - so they may not be tiny, or too skewed).

Does anybody know any good resources for this kind of thing?

Thank you,
so long,

->Tyberius Prime

TP -

Don't know if this might be what you are looking for...

This is probably more than what you are looking for, but I thought it looked interesting...

GMT is awesome, and will run as a quick few processes on a server.

Xrmap - much simpler, but more interactive.

NASA is so great when they stick to unstupid crap:

The CIA is also good when they stick to merely gathering intelligence (vector maps...easiest to manipulate if you have Acrobat & Illustrator).

Thanks for all your feedback

Dms: yeah, I love the locator ;-). Not appropriate for my task though ;-(

http://www.gideons.ca/-media/misc/World-map.jpg looks just like what I need - I don't know about the licencse yet though.

Still, thanks for all the links!
I'll have a more carefull look through them when I'm back at work.

Some of my best resources are long gone (I checked a few out recently) so this is a much needed return to the subject - good resources there

For completeness sake:

Do you know any good sources for free maps preferably in vector format?

Well, you should really pick a projection you like first:

(a more ridiculous amount [all in PDF]...though I didn't see Goode's: http://www.ilstu.edu/microcam/map_projections/ )
