I'm looking to start with Java but am looking out for a good development environment for the language. I am aware that Eclipse is available, but I am really seeking educated opinions on this if anyone can help. I'm new and I'm willing to try anything |

I have been using Eclipse for my java development lately. I have been working with the RCP and the plugin frameworks, these are both pretty advanced, and very useful. There is also the BIRT reporting tool which will hit a major functionality milestone in december. I like eclipse, and it has come a long way as an IDE, it is now much greater, and allows you to work in many different languages due to the plugin nature of the application. |

If you're doing Java work you'll find most are going to say Eclipse. I use it every day for work both in Java and a propietary internal plug-in and simulator we use. |
