Ok.. I'm still having trouble with this.

"Hint: Quote part of a previous post by highlighting it before clicking the ?Quote? button."

This is what I highlighted before clicking the 'Quote' button

quote:
someone else message.

As you see below... I get the 'entire' post. So what am I missing???

Yeah, but are you using the new beta? I'm using it too, and it does the same thing for me.

I'll have to test it when I get home - at work, I use the version 1.0.7, so that I can install it on my desktop, and get around the requirement of having to use IE

Can't you just remove everything from the quote except the bit you want? Or am I missing something?

Ok, I'm at home, and yes, it is doing the aftermentioned "quirk" - it copies everything.

Really interesting behavior.

Well, of course! But then we wouldn't have anything to complain about!

Of course you can. But the whole point of having the function available is to eliminate such steps.
Obviously, if it doesn't work, life will go on
But if things aren't working, it's a good idea to let people know...

The Gecko guys may have changed the way you can access a document's selection from JS in firefox 1.5... at least I know it doesn't work for me anymore either in the latest release candidate 2.

It's definitely a thing to look into once the final FF 1.5 is out, but before that I don't think I'm going to do too much digging in my old code...
Do any of our other JS guys have some time on their hands? If so, the quoting function is around line 150 here:
http://www.ozoneasylum.com/images/posting_input.js.php

document.getSelection() might be something that works differently in new FFs.

Not a lot more that I can say to this right now =)

Upgraded to FF1.0.7 and this is now working.... so for those still having problems.. this may be the fix required.

But an upgrade from 1.5beta to 1.0.7 isn't really an upgrade is it?
