Well the photo you linked to (Sleeping_Giants) definitely has the aahhh factor BH. It's just that a lot of detail seems to have been lost in the editing, which for me detracts from the overall impact. I've just checked out your new beauties specs, which are quite impressive, so I was a little disappointed not to find a larger version of the photo. Still, the composition is ok and it looks like you may have blurred the background in order not to detract from the main subject, which is quite often a good idea. Another way of composing the shot could be to crop the picture closer for impact, go crazy you have 7.2 million pixels to play around with there ;) Something like this, the photo was too small to play with it any further. [bonus_critique] The other photo you have up on DA is much better. The composition is great, desaturated with pale blue eyes is a nice effect. I think I would lose the colour on the nose though, or at lower the intensity.[/bonus_critque] It's great fun getting used to a new piece of kit. When I got my first digital camera, I would rush home after a day out walking or riding to upload the photos into the computer, then Photoshop, then online, then and only then would it occur to me to eat or perhaps take my coat off. Looking forward to seeing more of your photographs, you definitely have an eye for a good shot.
