[/quote] You are mistaken, and that's a good reason to clarify things on a larger scale. One, among the twenty differences I could quote off the top of my head is: db query = dedicated db server = (random/unpredictable) transfer times added to the text processing. VS directly writing to the very same physical location, aka the web server and a text file (constant response time) I could quote twenty more differences between reality and assumptions.
