Ok here's what I want:
1) later convert the animation to video (.avi/.mpg etc)
2) mainly vectors with some raster bg etc
3) easy/straight forward interface
4) good audio capabilities (externally made audio but I have to be able to adjust length, position etc)
5) would be great if there was a special feature for using handdrawn sketches ...

Don't suggest flash.

i've seen and heard of people using animation programs that allow you to attach 'bones' to vector graphics so you have to work only with the key frames etc

... doesn't have to be freeware ...

i guess almost any 3D application is able to render 2D stuff as well.

just use an orthographic projection.

I found what I was looking for and it's called Bauhaus Mirage Studio there are also two others: Moho and Toon Boom but they didn't seem to be as impressive as Mirage.

Anyone interested in animation check out Mirage Studio-s tutorials and trial version: http://www.bauhaussoftware.com/2D_Animation.php

thx for trying to help ...

Hey, that thing looks pretty sweet. I have always wondered if they had those on the market... Hopefully I can try it out someday.
Thanks for the link.

Yeah, I can see Mirage being an awsome program. I downloaded it a bit ago and havent had any luck yet. Im very confused, and the official site tutorials assume you already know much more than I do... Which is lame because I really want to animate stuff.

MiNiature: maybe you should look up some tutorials and books on how to make cartoons ... vectors should be pretty easy if you just take your time ... other than that mirage seems to be pretty easy to learn

remember: idea -> work -> product ... not the other way around
