Like, what do you want to talk about? Lots of people here at the asylum have experience with Adobe Illustrator.

Thanks for the answer.

1-Do people have a cell around here where this is discussed?

2- I have RTFM and also the Classroom in a book on this but the Pen tool and the Bezier curves are still a problem.

3- Also what is the best tablet/pen? Wacom?

Thanks.

You'll need to be a lot more specific than that

Illustrator discussion generally goes in the Photoshop forum (it has been recommended that the name change to reflect the fact that it is not strictly limited to Photoshop...). It has not been a widely enough discussed topic to warrant its own forum here.

I have no experience with tablets other than Wacom, can't offer an opinion on what else may be out there. Can't say enough good things about the Wacom Intuos though...

Read Veerle's post on the pen tool in illustrator, and then download her video:

Might make things more clear.

Pen tool in Photoshop isn't a whole lot different from that in Illustrator:

It is (IIRC) a more pricey way to go, but I figure a touchscreen as you'll find on tablet PCs must better than a standard tablet - you can actually see what you're doing right underneath the stylus with a screen.

My thanks to each of you for your thoughtful answers.

I will get back to you with details/specifics later on.

I guess I was hoping there was a Forum for it so I could view discussions re how people are using it and what their questions and answers might be.

Thank you.

"more pricey" is the nice way to put it

From my observations, you're talking the difference between a few hundred and a few thousand dollars when going from a 'regular' tablet to a screen tablet.

And sorry, country boy, to answer the initial question more directly: no, I do not know any illustrator sepcific forums. I'm sure there out there, but I have no knowledge of them.

You could try the Illustrator forum at Adobe.com. Although, I have always been a little disappointed by the content I find there.

Yes, I have always been disappointed with the Adobe Forums as well.

Could we talk specifics re a tablet? Which model for what price through what vendor? I find that metaphors are helpful here so if I may:

-A Ferrari- nice but I can not afford.

-A Miata- too small and not that reliable from what I hear.

-A Toyota Camry- with competitive pricing, low maintenance, and high functionality would be what I would want in a tablet.

Many thanks as always,

countryboy
