      I am currently trying to fix my in-laws IBM Aptive 2194-17a and have hit a brick wall.  Everytime windows starts to load the computer restarts itself in a continous loop.  I have used my own computer to reformat the HDD so that has bee ruled out.    |

      Which Windows is it running.  When Windows 2k and XP encounters an error on booting, there is a setting under the Start Up and Recovery that says "On System Error - > Automatically Reboot".  |

      I'd suggest hitting F8 to get yourself into the windows boot menu, and from there selecting safe mode (doesn't need to be with networking or anything).  |
