Hi there, I would very much like your advice on Screen Recording Tools to create Demos/Tutorials for my company's software. I would like to be able to edit my movies, add bubbles, possibly audio, produce files in various formats and well optimised.

I have of course Googled all the way through for about two days and have got down to the following shortlist (no particular order):

- Camtasia
- TurboDemo Professional
- ScreenCam
- InstantDemo
- Macromedia Captivate

I have tested some of them and have some preferences, but if anybody could point me to some more of these that would be great.

I do not give any link for the products above as I would really like a review based on experience.

Money is not a real issue, as long as it is good value and reasonable.

Also, any suggestions where to find good reviews about this would be very much appreciated (again, I have Googled this so no link to Google, ta)

Thanks a bunch in advance!

It's been a couple years, but last time I needed to something like this I had great luck with SnagIt.

check this out please? I've been wanting to look at it for a while now Looks promising.

Sorry I don't have any experience lately with such a thing (I recall a video screen grabware I used once that I loved but can't find it googling, had "snap" in the title I could have sworn)

edit: SNAGit, not "snap" - no wonder I coldn't Google it DL speaks of what I do, it's excellent for video screen grabs

Fraps is quite popular too. And it costs only 37$

If you were in X, you could use xvidcap, then edit the video to your liking with Cinelerra or Cinepaint (looks like they're moving their site, so this is down atm).

ryg of farbrausch is currently working on .kkapture, which in comparison to all those others, forces your app to be running at a given framerate, no matter how powerful your computer is.

Thank you for your contribution all. I shall test these along with some others I have found. It is quite tricky to find the right one though, as some of them have such unique great feature I will have to choose something that really suits the needs of the company... And you never quite know what they are going to be beforehand...
