Topic awaiting preservation: free 3D game engine anyone?

features that i'm looking for:

1. really fast! tens of thousands of polygons (the more the better), few special effects and a nice fps even with dx8 cards
2. a developing kit or similar wouldn't hurt but is secondary
3. tutorials
4. simple syntax
5. support for:
1) stupid programmer (me)
2) stupid artist (me)
3) open environments (not a map-based system)
4) different materials
5) some physics wouldn't hurt
6. projects using it should not look like quake 2 or worse

yes, i've done some google research and i've found a few possible candidates but maybe someone around here has heard or used something similar to what i'm looking for

Have you tried digging through SourceForge? I haven't, I'm just asking.

NeL might be an option for your typical MMORPG.

You should have a look at the cube engine, and I've some cool 3D stuffs made in BlitzBasic. I know nothing about the API of those engines/library but I assume they are rather accessibles.
