It seems the BBC has been making it increasingly harder for the PBS stations here to show [i]Doctor Who[/i] over the last five years. The PBS station here continued to show older episodes until last year when the BBC cut off export of [i]Doctor Who[/i] to the US altogether in Feb 2004. They were one of the last two or three stations still showing [i]Doctor Who[/i]. Apparently the BBC sees more money available to them by distributing [i]Doctor Who[/i] through the Sci-Fi channel than through the PBS stations. By only allowing distribution through Sci-Fi and creating box sets of DVDs that can be sold through Sci-Fi, they hope to create a new marketing channel. Yes, I agree with you theses new shows are very good. I'm pleasantly surprised to see that the quality is as good or better than the older shows. . -- not necessarily stoned... just beautiful.
