Thought it went a bit too quick and was too abrupt at the end, so...
Second attempt:
Delayed the animation a few more seconds and added a "kickback" by a peeved H. This makes the file almost twice as big, but it's still small. I like. This is probably the one I'm going to enter (after I check to see how they look here).
[Edit: Yeah, maybe it's a bit goofy, but I like it. Yay, I have an entry!]
Brilliant, I love both Suho's and MiNiature's entries.
MiNiature, great idea, I think the filesize at the moment is too large @292.08 KB for a forum sig. There is no set rule for this however, I try, and sometimes fail, to keep my sigs below 40kb. The top limit I set myself is 50kb, I aim to be well below that.
I do like the idea of blurred vision though, and perhaps you could end the blur with the pint pot refilled to make it a smoother transition, and reduce the filesize. Great work.
Suho, that is a great idea, brilliantly realised. I laughed with pleasure as soon as I saw it. I don't really think it needs any tweaking at all. Of course if you wanted to tweak, and let's face it, who doesn't, I would perhaps try to get the "S" snuggling in too. Having said that I'm sure I would be equally happy with the way you have it now. Most excellent.
I can see I'm really going to have to work/play hard to come up with anything that comes close to either of the submissions so far.
yeah, my matte color or something is off... The blur doesnt look right. And the filesize is unacceptably huge. :
Im gonna take it back into the shop here somtime.
Suho, thats adorible. . seriously though, it made me laugh. nice work. maybe you could add little raindrops? </suggestion>
Tao: Thanks for the props. Actually, I did debate having the S snuggle in as well. It would be neat to have the S do something, rather than just sit there. I've got a couple of ideas, so we'll see what happens.
MiNiature: Yours made me laugh as well (funny because it's true, as they say). And I definitely think the smaller version is an improvement.
Raindrops were another thing I debated having in there, but I doubt I'm going to go that route now, as I'd like to keep it simpler (raindrops would also mean a taller sig, and I like to keep my sigs as short as possible.)
Actually, it's kind of interesting how this sig developed. My first idea was to have the umbrella covering the entire "SUHO," but as I started experimenting with different fonts, I realized that it was going to be difficult to find a font that would fit everything under the umbrella and still look even. Then I got the idea of leaving the O out in the cold, so I chose a font with a relatively narrow S but wide H and O. The original idea was to have a little rainshower come down and soak the O while the other letters stayed dry, but then I thought, "Hmm... why would the O just sit out there in the rain?" And I started thinking about how people crowd under umbrellas in the rain and voila--animated letters. Like I said, though, at this point, I think I'll probably skip the raindrops. It would probably be cool to have the rain start and then have the O hop under the umbrella, only to be pushed back out and end up getting soaked anyway... but I could easily see the project just getting out of hand.
Of course, now you guys have got me thinking about tweaks.. dang it!
Hehehe nice one MiNiature, small version looks heaps better,
for some reason the animation gets stuck on my 'puter so its eaither a beer or a blur, crazy
OK... I couldn't resist a tweak. This one is all Tao. Cheers.
This only added about 3k to the file size (and 2k of that was simply increasing the number of colors to get more detail), and it's still under 25k, so we're cool.
I'm going to hold off on updating my entry in the main thread until I'm sure I'm done tweaking.
Must... resist... raindrops...
[Edit: Yeah, I like that. The sneaky S shuffle looks pretty funny. ]
And while we're at it... where are all the sigs for this month? Is it just going to be the handful we have now?
Oh, and just for the record, I did try a version of my umbrella sig with raindrops, but it looked ugly and so I stopped halfway through. Not only could I not get the raindrops to look non-dorky, but having the rain made the sig look very boxy (ie, the rain made the boundaries very evident). So I think I'm going to stick with the "dry" version and update my entry in the main thread...
