Well... I must admit, I know more about the Simpsons than the first ammedment. This is probably not helped by the fact that I don't live in the US, but still...

The right to own a pet? What the heck?!

Then again, I suppose it's not really surprising that people can name all of the members of the Simpsons family and the three judges for American Idol (I can't name a single one, by the way) when that's what they see every day on TV. I bet if the Simpsons was preceeded by a bunch of supermodels/hunks reciting the First Amendment, most Americans would have it down pat.
