The reason why your meta tag was causing validation errors was because it wasn't closed correctly according to XHTML specifications. Read up on them at the [url=http://www.w3schools.com/xhtml/xhtml_html.asp]w3schools[/url] Note that ALL XHTML elements must be closed. so your meta tag should now look like this...[code]<meta http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" />[/code] Note the '/>' at the end instead of just the '>' I checked your site again, and you've moved the DOCTYPE down a line under an XML declaration, doing this will cause the same problems you had before with IE ignoring the correct box model.
