I apologise in advance for the topic of this thread...

But I have been asked to produce email signatures in Outlook for the company I work for; so I did an HTML page with styles embedded and it worked fine on my computer. But when I sent it to my boss to use, I was gutted but not surprised to get his answer saying that it didn't quite look formatted. At all.

So does anyone has some experience on how to make a simple HTML page work properly as an email signature? I Googled the stuff but couldn't find anything relevant. I'm not talking about much here, it's a logo on the left hand side with 4 lines of text aligned on its right...

Thanks for your help...

Unfortunatly I've had some experience making html emails, and there's a few resources out there that can help you.

The primary resource I found was an article over at good ol' A List Apart. It covers most things, but I'll add a few.

Don't use any of the following tags, <html>, <head>, <body>. they are already included in most emails when opened, especially if you are using a web-based email client.

You can use divs, but for layout tables are more reliable.

Put all styles inline using the style="" attribute, don't link to external stylesheets (You can't put them in the head anyway)

Externally linked images are naturally ok.

Hope this helps.

Yes, good point... I'll try to think of a way of presenting this to my boss without getting fired!
