Greetings to all old and new inmates .. it's been a long time since I have posted to this grand canyon of internet knowledge .. I have surely missed the warm entertainment and deep/controversial discussions .. all while being friendly adults and good friends .. I'm glad to be back roaming this place

and since I'm back I need to ask for help regarding a net connection problem I'm currently having .. here is the situation .. I am currently running two computers at home .. the first, a laptop, is connected to my linksys wireless router wirelessly and sometimes I put the hard line into it .. the second, Desktop PC, is hardlined into the router .. now the problem I'm having is the laptop can browse the internet and surf about with no troubles but any time I've tried to connect to a internet radio station ( di.fm or friskyradio.com) it says connect failed (I use QCD .. so essentially I can browse the net but not listen to net radio

and here's the weird thing .. my Desktop PC can NOT browse the internet but I can listen to net radio through the same two websites mentions above and through the same media player used and mentioned above .. and I can play online games like MOHAA .. BF2 .. etc by connecting to specific IP game servers

now I have tried many solutions but nothing has worked as of yet .. does anyone have any helpful suggestions or solutions or have had experience with this situation .. any help is greatly appreciated with many thanks in advance

Reset the router configuration, or connect to the internet without a router to see what happens. Enable a firewall first.

Id expect the dns on your desktop computer to be misconfigured.

Compar the output of ipconfig /all on both machines, it would show different
dns servers.
If that's the case, network settings, settings of your interface (lan 1), tcpi/ip settings,
dns should probably be set to automatic and isn't. If it is, well add the ip the other machine has
as dns server.

Hope I'm talking clear enough

Go with Static IP addresses.

Can you do a ping of www.google.com (or any other interent address?)

If so, then there is something funky going on!

Have you done some Virtual Server settings, perhaps?

well the Desktop IP addy is 192.168.1.102 and I can't show the ipconfig /all reading of the desktop (unless I manually type it all in) .. I can't ping google on the desktop but ping works on laptop .. this problem first showed it's ugly head when I tried to setup file sharing between the two comps .. course to my best of knowledge I couldn't contect to net radio on the laptop before then either .. and I can't locate the changes I made on either computer to go back to what it was before .. sigh .. WIFE is upset .. new laptop not able to listen to net radio .. oh yeah I'm married .. it's been a long time .. new job new place new car great wife!

ok, reareading your initial post: Use Dr.TCP to check if you MTU is smaller <1492 on the laptop machine's wireless interface.
If it's not it could be the source of that problem ( ie. Some websites work, some don't).

For the desktop,
please check
-that it has an ip address like 192.168.1.something
-that it's dns servers are 67.21.15.4 and 67.21.15.20
-what kind of firewall you have.

you have 3 network cards in the laptop?

How about this. Disable the wireless on the laptop and hardwire it to the router. Hard wire the desktop to the router and set both configurations to Auto Obtain DNS and IP's. Then do the ipconfig /all and see if it is getting the correct settings. If you get a 192.1.168.XXX address on both, then at least the router is working correctly.

Ping a website by name and see if you can get a reply on both laptop and desktop. If you can, then you should be able to go anywhere via a browser.
