Guess this is nothing new to some inmates. Many, even. Or?

http://www.burningman.com

To make a long story short, burning man is a community experience in the middle of nowhere,
Nevada (*they* call the place Black Rock City), based on self-reliance and self-expression.

In other words, to pass the gate, you are required to be able to survive 6 days and nights in the desert,
and from this point on, the rest is survival, creativity and community.

Anybody attended? Heard of it? Didn't hear of it? Has stories about it?

I am not, not this year. I commit to the things I do and planning on living a week in the desert
is not something to do on a whim.

Still, the event is fascinating in all regards.

The "Department of Mutant Vehicles", for instance, delivers the only driving licenses for motorized vehicles, but they have to be amazing. Some are. Caught a glimpse of a "fish ship",
a huge ship which looked like a fish.
Saw one which looked like a crossover between some dragon and a mad max car, etc.

I wish someone would speak to give us a "taste" of what it really is and how it really feels.

Oooooooohhhhhhhhh.....

I mentionned *being prepared* and that it's required.
Like tattoos, it's a matter of mindset, and the mindset matters.

Survival in the desert, 6 days, working, partying, chilling, striving, living.

Preparation is starting for me right now.
..little "engineering" challenge: how does one build a tent that resists high speed winds,
high temperatures, is easy to put together, and built without digging holes in the -protected-
and so special soil?

The answer: geodesic domes. http://www.desertdomes.com/

Mad Max like, yeah. They even have a Thunderdome, a real one, in Black rock city.
I'll assemble mine in the next weeks, and will test it in extremely cold, mountain conditions

A typical Swiss fondue with buddies under me own dome Sounds like a plan.
