Topic: Digital Basics

Having just purchased an 'entry level' digital camera I found this site to be extremely helpful. From the absolute basics...what's all this pixel count and white point stuff mean... to the very muched advanced.

It's one of the few sites I've been to in quite some time that I actually worked my way
across the menu.

Discovered why my attempts at a panorama were so difficult. Not that I'll be able to correct them but I at leaast know why they're screwed up. =)

All sorts of PS stuff but when it comes to 'Curves' --- Steve's tutorial remains the best ever.

Anyway... if you're thinking about buying your first ever digital camera you'd be well advised to read thru the basics in the tutorials.... and for the more 'advanced' amongst us.... I think there are a few things int here to keep you busy too. (at least for a minute or 2. =)

Tao: Good one. Enjoyed some of the others on his site.

I don't know the origins of the one I'm using other than my wife came home with it one day.

I have some plans for it actually. We're just now in the throws of stripping and painting the garage

and when one of the neighbours saw all that open space she said 'looks like a mural to me....' and then there was some talk about '.... oh you know, something pastoral... nature type thing.' At which point I said, '... hang on a minute... I pretty much stumble over the deer when I step out the back door. Walk to the end of the street you're at the ocean...and when they're migrating chances are good you'll see a whale or six... the great horned owl and eagles are perched atop our trees eyeing our cats and let's not forget the cougars and bears.... a 'nature type' mural..... I don't think so.

A quick'n dirty in PS.... is more what I have in mind.... and I just happen to have a friend who's very good with an air brush..... so just maybe.... =)

You'll have to keep us posted about the garage too, sounds like a great idea for a mural. I love the sound of where you live too, wildlife abounding. Is it a little scary when you have bears roaming about? What am I saying, of course it must be, but I'm sure you have that covered, right

Great site! I've been taking digital photos for a year or so now, but there is still much I don't know. It's always great to learn new stuff.

And you definitely have to post photos of the mural when it's done.
