Topic: Using custom fonts

Just wondering what the deal is with custom fonts.

Is there a way to use a custom font, and have the font file on your server so that when people visit the webpage they can see the font properly even if its not on their pc?


Or is it purely they can only ever see fonts that are on their PC otherwise a default will be used?

There is no reliably way to embed fonts in webpages.

Solutions are, depending on context et al, to either use PDF ( which can embed fonts ),
or render images with the font in question ( perhaps via php and gdlib, but bloody cache those headings, will ya ).

Thanks, yeah thats what i told my client - just wanted to make sure! If they real want it we can put it in as an image, its only for a silly heading.

There's a CSS3 module that's a working draft ATM that should provide a standard for this sort of stuff.
