Am I the only one who's beenhaving a difficult time loading the Ozone lately? There are times when the page doesn't open at all and times out on me completely. I've tried at assorted times of the day and it's just painful lately. Been going on for at least the past three weeks or so. |

Sounds like Dreamhost are having load issues again. They offer phenomenal amounts of bandwidth and storage to their users, but I doubt their ability to deliver it reliably, frankly. |

Skaarjj has it. I've been developing a Gallery- and Drupal-powered site and DreamHost was far, far too slow to handle even a fresh installation of either. And, of course, any support inquiry was answered with blame placed on the software. |

I just got this response to a mail I sent DH's support crew yesterday: quote:

As much as my advice is appreciated, I second Skaarjj's opinion. The sole tone of the Helpdesk's reply irks me... |

Actually, we kind of did, due to having only application level profiling. |

Yep, sounds like a typical modern DreamHost reply. But I wouldn't agree that moving to another server would necessarily make things better. Maybe for a time, but trouble would eventually rear its head again. |

I'm actually running a test account now over at www.1and1.com - they may not be great, but they are big, that can be either good or bad? Frankly, I'm having trouble with several hosts right now, notably Dreamhost (not just for the asylum, but other sites as well) and also OLM.net (I have a major client there. Everything is currently down there now. Plus some idjit deleted a 500MB database of EVERYTHING that made that business a business. Fortunately I got backups.) |

1and1 is decent and insanly large. They and Strato host quite a chunk of german domains ( think millions) - and .de is second only to .com in size. |

Not sure about the multiple backbone connection stuff, but JaguarPC has always been good to me, and now offers (for $8 US/mo.): |

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems, but sad that it's a widespread issue. Today is the first time I've been able to get to the Asylum during the day in ages (US Central time zone, btw). I was actually surprised the site loaded for me. |

I feel the pain, although I guess I generally don't visit the Asylum during busy times, as I usually don't have too many problems. On occasion it does crawl, though. Unfortunately, I have no alternatives to offer. My own webhost would probably die under the strain of the Asylum. |

Page load times are surprisingly short at the moment... are they trying to trick us? |

It seems that there is an unusually heavy load being placed on the server the Asylum is hosted on between 1400Z and 2000Z on weekdays. I have noticed that I have a great deal of difficulty getting any page from the Asylum to display during those times. The load seems to let up on the week ends and at other times during the week. |

Very much back. It was going really well for a while there, but the past few days have seen a return of the slowness. |

This may be my fault... I've been running some very power-intensive shock therapy experiments down in the basement. Then again, I always have accounted for about 90% of the Asylum's electric bill. |
