Topic: How to get the size of a pattern?

I would like to know how to get the exact size of a seamless pattern that is stored in Photoshop's pattern palette.

Or even better: is there a fuction to generate a seamless pattern from textured document?

Any help is greatly appreciated, I cannot find it...

Image Ready patterns are in PSDs, so just open one and it will automaticlly be in the size needed.
Photoshop Postscript patterns will also open in PS , so the file size dialog will tell you what the image size is.
These are found in the PS folder in Presets/pattterns.

As for the seamless pattern, take your sample, go>> Filter>> Other>>Offset, use half of the image size in both directions, then clean the seams in the middle with the Clone/healing tools as required.

As Bob mentions, you'll need to get your hands dirty for this. In most cases it is not at all difficult, though every texture will be different in regard to the type and amount of work that needs to be done to clean the seams.

When i read that question, i wondered how to do the reverse, when you have a tiled patteren and and want to find a single tile.

Thanks for help so far. The funny thing is that the moment I posted it here, I looked into the filters tab and there is this Pattern Generator. While it delivers quite good results for some textures, it was not the best... But I could find out the default size of a pattern. It is 128x128.

However the OFfset filter allows me to do exactly what I wanted. Thanks a lot...
