Something rather weird has been happening on my computer in the last month; Sometimes when I want to write a post in the Asylum or other sites where I need to enter text in text fields, my keyboard goes mad. Odd things happen like the inability to copy or past anymore, opening the search when I type an ' sign or similar annoying things.
Five minutes ago, as I was replying to another post in the Asylum, the same thing happened, so what I normally do is close my browser (Firefox) and start again; but I wanted to copy my text first and was unable to do so. Eventually I managed to copy something and started my post again, pasted my stuff and here is what was pasted:

Google Safe Browsing uses automated technology to warn you about web pages that we believe may be unsafe. This page appears to be a part of a scam known as a phishing attack, in which criminals create fraudulent pages to mimic legitimate sources that you may trust. You can read more about phishing here antiphishing.org. You can also learn more about Google Safe Browsing.

Finally, if you believe this page has been falsely flagged as a forgery, you can report it to Google.

Could someone let me know what this means - the text above really came out of the blue? Also, I have performed a virus scan on my computer after this started happening and was not able to fix the problem. Can anyone help me with this please?

Also, if this thread belongs in another forum, please feel free to move it.

Cheers

Hm. That text is displayed by google for example, when you're following a link in google search that google believes to lead to a phishing site.

The symptoms themselves are a tad bit inconclusiv - it might just be a freaky electronic problem in your keyboard,
or it indeed might be some malware.

Which virus scanner did you try?

Also: what extensions do you have installed in Firefox?

I use Ad-Aware regularly and have VShield as main virus scanner (installed by the company).

I have the Google toolbar, Sage, Answers, the web developer toolbar and jeteye installed; I installed the Google toolbar a long time ago but all the other ones after the problem started happening, so it can't be because of them.

Try removing Google Toolbar and see if the problem goes away.

what happens to me a lot is that another tab in Mozilla calls for focus when I'm 'Ctrl-C'ing and I inadvertently copy the wrong stuff. Maybe this is the case?

This does not happen to me, Petskull. But it is the kind of bugs that are really annoying...

I could try and do that, hyperbole, but what a pain... I like that Google toolbar!

Also, it might weel be a problem with my keayboard, as I think it started when I changed keyboard. Do you know of any "fix" for keyboards - assuming such thing exists?

What happend to your old keyboard? Can't you try that one for a day or so, to see if the problem reappears.

Otherwise, what kind of keyboard are we talking about? PS2 or USB?

It's a standard Dell PS2 keyboard.

I don't know where the old one is, somewhere in the office...

The only fix I know for keyboards is to replace them.
