I have a particular problem here: the company I work for have agreed to buy the font Frutiger for a print job I have to do, which will also have to be produced in PDF and possibly Word.
My question is should I order the font in TrueType, OpenType or PostScript, knowing that I might have to use it in PageMaker, possibly Word, and embedded it to a PDF?

I have read things on the matter but am still not sure which to choose (please do not send me to the FAQ as I have already read this article).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tricky, you don't say what system you ar on. But I'm guessing Windows.

All should be embedable in a PDF if the font itself allows for it. Some font have the funtion disabled. So check the lience and the font foundry policys.

Word 2000 (win) and up will see all types, however but I can't find any mention of Open type in my Pagemaker 7 manual, and I no longer have it installed so I can't check. But the manual suggests it supports postscript and truetype.

So I would suggest, testing first and then look at the Postscript version.

CrossFont, http://www.asy.com/scrcf.htm is good to have around for just this kind of problem.

I doubt it really matters. SVG would be nice, but they'd probably have to generate it from a TrueType, OpenType, or PostScript version, so it'd be pointless.

Also, FontForge is free and open source.

Thanks for the advice guys.
I will be going for OpenType, as it seems to be the most compatible format (PC and Mac)
