Even when you edit out the partisan gibberish.... this sends chills down my spine.

Public Law 109-364, or the "John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007" (H.R.5122) (2), which was signed by the commander in chief on October 17th, 2006, in a private Oval Office ceremony, allows the President to declare a "public emergency" and station troops anywhere in America and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities, in order to "suppress public disorder."

and the justification for passing such a law is ? I'm not a news addict but last time I checked the US were not plagued with country wise riots puting the state at stake.

Not that the us government should fight to much when it's at stake of being overthrown by it's own constituents,
given the historic 'we believe these truths to be self evident'.

But don't worry.
Fascist europe is happing just as well.

Edit:
And now, let's all sing along ( melody of the Yellow Submarine...)
"We all live in a failed democracy,
failed democracy, failed democracy"...

NoJive: Thanks, don't know how that one slipped under the radar. *sigh*

In one day this bafoon pretty much did away with both Posse Comitatus and Habeas Corpus. Look at these smug faces. Police state anyone, of the corporate kind perhaps? Maybe? Not yet, but very close? From my angle things are looking rather grim.

Nahh, who am I kidding, we don't need those silly old laws anyway, so long as we are defeating the terrorists over there so we don't have to fight them here at home, and spreading freedom and democacy around the globe. And we are safer than ever before with our new shiny dictator and total survielance grid. Now they are such good, kind hearted souls and care so much about my safety they are going to send in the big guns to make sure no evil terrorists are roaming the streets. I feel soooo safe, makes me all warm and fuzzy.

Unreal. Totally unreal.

They keep passing laws like these....you never know.

TP, you are absolutely right, we are all heading in the same direction, although at somewhat different rates, global fascism.
