It used to be that if an American married a foreign national, the foreign national would get the benefit of the doubt. Now, because my wife is a foreign national, I get treated as if I'm not a citizen when it comes to airport security measures (i.e., have to wait in the special foreigner line to get all our bags opened and searched, etc.). Although it does seem to be getting better. I agree completely with WarMage re: security theater. It is the illusion of security without the benefit of actual security.
