Topic: Funhouse and Arbitrary Fonts (Page 1 of 1)

Would anyone happen to have the fonts Funhouse and Arbitrary Bold? They're what's used in the Weird series of books I'm working on and I need to make some promotional items on my end for some local events. Problem is, the designers who handle the graphics for the series only have the Mac versions and they're too busy at the moment to keep creating vectorized versions of specific graphics for me. And, to be honest, I can't afford $75 to get the PC versions for just these items.

Screenshot samples please, there are lots of fonts named 'funhouse' out there (and I wouldn't be surprised if the same applies to 'arbitrary').

Also if you can get the mac versions, I'm pretty sure we could get them converted.

I hadn't thought of converting them. I searched on the topic and came across CrossFont. I think I've already got the Mac version of Funhouse here somewhere, so I'll try it on that and see what happens.

Nope, didn't work because apparently certain Mac fonts must be copied a particular way to even show up correctly on a PC. What I was e-mailed before wasn't copied properly and shows up as empty. Unfortunately, according to CrossFont, copying them would involve either a PC-formatted disk physically mailed to me or the use of some other software, and I can't ask them to go to the trouble. Blast!

IIRC FontForge can convert from Mac fonts.

Well I was able to do without Funhouse for now, but being in a time crunch, I had to just go and buy Arbitrary. Trying to get the font to convert in the first place was going to be a pain on both ends. Oh well, thanks anyway!

I couldn't live without CrossFont, absolutely indispensable in cross platform environment where you have to deal with a lot of freelancers who insist on using weird ass fonts from who knows where, and don?t convert to ontlines.

I think the latest version will even do OSX .dfonts. Useful as the Mac has a few built in fonts you can?t find anywhere other then with OSX.

Note: If the font are coming from OS9, you will need to preserve the resource fork as it contains critical information for mac fonts. The best way to do this is simply us Stuff-It on the Mac, transfer the file and unstrff-it on the PC. You can then just drag-n-drop the suitcase/folder onto CrossFont and convert.
