Without getting into the details of this, I'm wondering if the following behaviour can be affirmed:

1) floating on the left is a nav system
2) dynamically appearing on the right is one of 3 div elements
3) div elements are dynamically hidden by user selection on the nav system

If you hide all but 3 of the div elements, the remaining visible div element will occupy the available space to the right of the floating left div element, essentially moving to the top.

It'll break in NN3 and IE3, which is no big deal since the float is severely borked in NN4 and up to IE5
