If I mention a tool you don`t have, let me know and we`ll adjust. Add the new pic to a new Layer. Copy the original pic to a new Layer above the new pic. Make a selection of the area(s) you wish to save. Add a Layer Mask the selected area. (does Elements use masks?) The new stuff should show up in the Masked area(s).
