UBB Help
I saw him in the early 60's when he really was the hardest working man in show business. It was an incredible show. If the band wasn't tight enough he didn't stop the song but he'd basically hold a rehearsal right there and then. "Hit me band" BAM!!! "Hit me 2 times" BAM BAM and he'd just keep it up till they came in where he wanted them to.. .. there was no snoozin' in that band.... and of course Maceo is still around and as funky as ever. He was playing in Vancouver... I lived on Vancouver Island. Myself and a buddy had to hide in the trunk of a car in order to get the ferry off the island because we only had enough money for the show which was a very hefty $2.50. Also made use of the 'trunk' to see some other great acts such as Ike & Tina Turner. Tina was I think maybe 21 and completely delicious.... Ike was an asshole. Etta James was another phenomenal act... she was my first blond black...which for a skinny white boy from the boonies was something to behold. Might even say I broke out in a cold sweat. =) ___________________________________________________________________________ "I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying that I approved of it."
