Unless you can beam IR, you won't be able to do this without a trip to the store or borrow what you need from a buddy. The floppy is the cheapest way to go (I'm assuming the drivers needed for the cable modem are small files), but I agree with DL - flash drives are a great allround solution - a low capacity one might be found for under $20 a bin at best buy or circuit city etc. Best case scenario, if you can swing it, is to download the drivers from your provider's site, copy them to a floppy or flash drive, and install. ~ Luxury is the wolf at the door and its fangs are the vanities and conceits germinated by success.
