[/quote] I think telling him you know he's been doing these things, that you don't approve and you trust him to do the right thing in the future is a good way to handle it. However, I think it is important for you to find a time to privately talk to his mother about the situation and the two of you make a decision about how to deal with any future infractions. You have already taken action without consulting her and this could be seen by her as you taking her authority away.
