Topic: What type of server software..... (Page 1 of 1)

I have a friend of mine that wants to start an online community (ala myspace) but it's just for the members of his church to keep in touch with each other, share news, etc. I see the "myspace" engine on a few other sites and I think he would ultimately like to get something like that.

I suggested a simple bulletin board system like the asylum, but there are features with myspace that he really likes.

Now I'm not sure if I would need to license whatever software they use but if anyone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it!

I'm pretty sure sf.net has clone systems of most any popular site you can think of including youtube and myspace, etc..

i didn't quite know how to search for it but I found one that I cant get to work for the life of me....
i'm no genius like some of you guys... :-)

What's the problem?

well i couldnt find any notes on how to install, so i basically copied the directory to my server. Got most of the basics going, but
when i upload images for a personal avatar, it doesn't show. I'm not really sure what directories need to have permissions changed, I'm guessing that was the problem.

I haven't started customizing anthing yet as I wanted to make sure the engine itself worked first.
