hey there

i've previously wanted to open a thread twice, but i've always managed to fix the problems immediately before I hit the "submit new thread" button. but this time i really really got stuck.
i'm not sure whom to blame though......i think the problem is that I just do not understand how IE interpretes my code. (this is mainly because i always test my sites with FF and OPERA first....very intelligent, i know)

this is the site --> http://www.thespacebetweenus.com/hr
css: http://www.thespacebetweenus.com/hr/styles.css

if you have a look at the site with FF or OPERA you get a clue of how the site should look like. if you check it with IE 7 (i only got 7, have no clue how the site looks like in 6) everything is strange.
apart from the fact that the relative positioned elements are screwed up, the navigation doesnt work correctly. i cant hover the drop down menues, i think IE ignores my padding-bottom

and by the way....why does the site not validate?

god, i feel like a noob any help would be very much appreciated

[quickie] Closing the HEAD tag might help with the validation [/quickie]

Doing it the other way round is so much more frustrating

As for your site, I'm seeing a page that looks very different in IE at the moment... "blabla" instead of the navigation and no signs of the list structure in the source.... what's up with that, some 'interesting' scripting going on?

ah, blabla means that you have disabled cookies. index.php sets a cookie and forwards you to welcome.php . if the cookie is set, the menue gets loaded.

* { display: inline-block; } will fix most of it.

yeah, i'm still looking for help. i've fixed the relative positioning madness in IE 7 right before I read reisios post. however, the suckerfish dropdowns still do not work correctly in IE 7. i've tried reisios code on the menue, but it didn't help maybe someone could help me out with this, that would be great!
(the problem is still the same. it is not possible to hover the dropped down menues in IE)

I realize this is not going to be too helpful, but I have never been able to get the suckerfish dropdown menus to work properly. It was most likely my own ignorance/lack of experience/general unwillingness to spend too much time on the problem, but after struggling with them for a while I just gave up.

Don't expect slick & pretty styles or anything (nothing but beaded decaff here ), but this might be the kind of simple JS menu you want -

Right? if so, feel free to take it apart

(should be pretty crossbrowserish, although only tested in firefox)
