What would be more interesting, I think, would be to spread the letters out evenly over the spectrum. That is, you've got 256 values for red, green, and blue, right? Well, there are 26 letters in the English alphabet. That's almost ten per letter--if we multiply the position of the letter in the alphabet by ten (and make "z" 255) then every three letters will form a color: CAT = 1E0AC8 (a very lovely blue) DOG = 289646 (looks like the green background on which film ratings are shown) SIT = BE5AC8 (fabulous!) Longer words or sentences would simply be a series of colors (spaces and leftover values are 00): Welcome to the Asylum = E63278, 1E9682, 3200C8, 9600C8, 503200, 0ABEFA, 78D282 Yeah, it's not nearly as nifty as having letters spell out words, but it' a step up for those not secure enough in their masculinity to deal with pastels. ;)
