You are immersed in a Death March. The whole purpose of this strategy is to get you to work as many hours as possible and charge your company for as few of them as possible. I assume you are on salary, not hourly. This means that every hour of overtime you work is an hour your giving away for free. The whole idea behind the pep talk is to convince you to give your boss as much free time as you can.
