kimson said: So... I am quite desperate at the moment, because I think you can only go from A to B with either or all of the following: - Degrees in business management and/or marketing - A "breath-taking" portfolio - Networking - Luck, charisma, long legs and/or big mouth
Welcome to the world of business. You can either get the job based off your own merits, which would be totally insane in this day and age, or you do so through talking to people. So ... talk to people. Or develop your "breath-taking" portfolio. The degree is less important now than it ever has been, and it's been falling with each day that passes. There is a mentality that you must get into--the mentality that you do, indeed, deserve a better job. But with that air of entitlement, you must also wear the crown of humility, recognizing that you must work for that to happen. No magic wands here. You put in the work, you put in the time, you pour blood, sweat, and tears into your passions, you are more likely to get that job. More likely. Not a guarantee. Get your name out there, get smaller jobs, build out that portfolio, work on how to talk to people who have the authority to determine whether or not you can get that position, and you'll be on your way. The meek do not inherit the earth. In reality, there are 7 billion people out there, and no matter who you are, someone will do what you can do for less. -steve
