http://www.lfda.co.uk/

Made this for my workplace, some areas are a bit saturday night special (e.g rushed, the directory for one thing...).

I dont think it turned out to bad for a rushed job, obviously there are some parts that I wish I had had more time to work on but overall I am happy with it.

Thoughts and criticisms are welcome

Nice overall look.

Flash navigation :\ users have to click to activate the Flash first, then click again to go to a link or see the roll over effect and the cursor doesn't change when hovering a link

The <td colspan="5"><h4><a name="BestBarPub"></a>Best Bar/Pub</h4></td> should probably be a TH and the name of the <a/> be put as the id of the TH. Also I thing those H4, if they are needed anyway, should have no border but a light gray background color.

It would be nice to have a zebra tables, and|or a slightly different background color when you hover a TR.

The list of Finalist/Winners should definitely be in an OL or UL.

The <hr size="1" noshade> aren't necessary.

It's a bit weird to mix Sans-Serif ( all the things made in Flash, the logo and the 2 links at the top ) and Serif ( all the HTML content ) fonts.

I am still a bt too used to old style html, hence the junk on the hr's

I could tidy up the table code somewhat, it was imported tabular data in dreamweaver and the code was auto generated, I was on a deadline so I didnt want to spend too much time on it, i did take the time to run a reg exp find & replace in dreamweaver to make all the postcodes link through to multimap... and it actually worked, not bad for an idiot like me

I think tables are still justifiable for tabular data :P

Users (IE) should not have to activate the flash... there should be a js fix in there, is that happening to you?

Sure it makes sense to use a TABLE for the list of restaurants and their metadata. I'm not complaining about them.

Most of the cleaning can be done using search & replace or macros in any half decent editor.

I'm using Opera and had to click to activate the Flash movie. Also I know quite a few people who disable all plugins or don't have Flash because many times Flash is an accessibility nightmare or/and more a nuisance. Ok, I've been into IT for years so I'm not exactly Joe-user, but honestly I know no one who uses IE. All my friends and relatives use Opera ( on various platforms ) or Firefox.

Although that site look small and simple on first sight, I'm sure it took quite some time to produce due to all the "monkey work" ( a.k.a. importing data, cleaning them, ... )

About Georgia, fair enough, I love it too but try to be consistent and use it or another Serif font everywhere.
