When I do decide to upgrade I'll make sure I'm totally up to date with my updates. Another thing I may well do is un-install everything relating to Compiz prior to update via Update Manager. This is just in case of any conflicts. I have also downloaded 7.10 and have that burnt to disk just in case the other method goes wrong. For now I still have Ubuntu working wonderfully well on it's own drive and the CompizConfig Settings Manager has been running as smoothly as a smooth thing on automatic smooth control.
