This might be a good time to mention that as soon as I install/update Ubuntu, I run the following line: [i]sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras vlc mplayer mencoder build-essential xchat xchat-gnome frozen-bubble chromium openarena zsnes xmms banshee libdvdnav4 libdvdread3 libxine1-ffmpeg libxine1-ffmpeg wine stellarium celestia blender bootchart sysv-rc-conf gnochm conky compizconfig-settings-manager compiz-fusion-plugins-extra[/i] ... and then run a few videos and music files on my computer to install the codec packages.
