It's available for just about any OS, too. There are also lots of [url=http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/projects.html#mplayer_frontends]3rd party frontends for MPlayer and mencoder[/url] - if you must have a GUI, there are some there that will do a good job of ripping. I'm sorry I don't remember which are the better ones, but they're there. [url=http://download.videohelp.com/download/SUPERsetup200723.exe]SUPER[/url] is a decent frontend for Windows that is focused mainly on conversion. You can also use [url=http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/]ffmpeg[/url] (core part of mplayer, et al.) if you're into the commandline stuff ([url=http://cygwin.com/]Cygwin[/url] can help for use on Windows). (edit: also virtualdub for conversion, though I've had more success with the other stuff mentioned) As for editing... MainActor is a nice straightforward editor for Windows - old versions were available as unlimited free trials.
