We have had duotone before POW week 9: duotones but not monochrome oddly enough. Well, I suppose not that odd but there y'are.
I found this in a quick search of the term from Luminous Landscape which is a name I'm sure I've come upon before, I'll have to go back to that site and have a proper look through. Some of those tutorials go back to Photoshop 6.

Oh POO
Someone forgot to give this thread its full title " POW 123 - Monochromatic and Duotone". Could the next Mad Sci to read this please rectify my oversight s'il vous plait?

The following photo was a quick snap of the early morning sun near the Hotel Arts in Barcelona, about a month ago. I spent most of my day stuck in the bowels of the building, so this was a rare shot of something other than the various stages of build-up and break-down at a show.

The original was in colour, but I thought it looked a little more dramatic like this:

Thanks - I didn't just want to use a fixed filter on it, so I played with contrast and colour for a while. I had a few different versions in various tints, and settled for this one as it suited the muggy, early morning atmosphere of the moment. I don't know if I got the effect across, but it suited my mood that morning. S'funny that I happened to have it to hand when I noticed this week's POW subject.

Hmmm... what to pick..? I would have instantly jumped on something like architecture, but it seems that subject has been covered in more than one form previously, so...

This isn't actually filtered, but instead a picture taken with Slide Film in a 35m camera.

It's a picture of the Madeira coastline taken from a hotel I was staying at perched on the cliffs, some dramatic landscape on that small island.

Let me know if this doesn't open correctly.
